The nine states of the Legal Amazon will receive the experiments with nanobiotechnology for the recovery of deforested areas.
The work, entitled "Applications of nanobiotechnology to recover degraded areas in the Amazon: a forestry experience of research, teaching and extension", is an agreement signed by the Amazon Research Institute (Inpa) with the company Shell Brasil Petroleum, and the cooperation of teaching and research institutions in Brazil.
The project launch took place on Tuesday (2) at the headquarters of the institution located in the neighborhood Aleixo, south-central zone. The experiment coordinator, PhD in Plant Physiology and Inpa researcher, José Francisco, says the aim is to improve forest plantations so that these degraded areas become productive areas.
"Basically, this technology enhances the plant's response to growth. It is a degradable biomolecule, it has no implications that bring consequences to the environment, on the contrary, it is a biofertilizer and therefore improves the physiology of the trees. The idea is that the plantations can be potentiated.
