This Tuesday (August 2nd), a scientific project that will use nanotechnology in forest plantations to recover degraded areas in the Brazilian Amazon will be launched in Manaus. The project of the National Institute for Amazon Research (Inpa/ MCTI) is an agreement with Shell Brazil Petroleum and will rely on the cooperation of 13 educational and research institutions in the Amazon.

The project "Applications of nanobiotechnology to recover degraded areas in the Amazon: a forestry experience of research, teaching and extension" will have an investment of R$ 4 million from Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda, through resources of research, development and innovation (RD&I), and will be executed in 36 months. It is coordinated by Inpa researcher José Francisco de Carvalho Gonçalves, and accompanied by a technical-scientific committee composed of researchers Adamir da Rocha Nina Junior, Josiane Celerino de Carvalho and Karen Cristina da Costa, and the participation of a researcher from Shell.
